2 Half Hollow Hills grads advance in Air Force

Two 1999 graduates of Half Hollow Hills East High School, Dix Hills, have completed basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, the Defense Department announced yesterday.

Air Force Airman Justin J. Anderson, above, left, is the son of Darlene Armenti of School House Way, Dix Hills. Air Force Airman Pauline A. Rose-Moore, above, right, is the daughter of Joan R. Samuels of Willow St., Wheatley Heights. She received a bachelor's degree in 2005 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

During the six weeks of training, the airmen studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
