Police beat: Getaway on skateboard

A woman told police Saturday that while her car was at an auto body shop on Kings Park Road her sunglasses and garage door opener were stolen.

Dix Hills
A passenger window was broken Saturday on a car on Kilmer Avenue and the GPS unit was stolen.

Greenlawn
A store owner on Broadway told police a youngster stole a can of soda yesterday and made his getaway on his skateboard.

Halesite
A man was arrested and charged with robbery Sunday. The police report said he stole a wallet from a woman's pocketbook at a King Kullen store on New York Avenue. The woman ran after him and tried to get it back and was dragged down the aisle by the man. The man was then grabbed by the store employees and held for the police.

Huntington
On Saturday, police reported that bias graffiti was found in the playground area of Heckscher Park on Main Street.

A side window was broken yesterday on a car on New York Avenue and some CDs and an iPod were taken.

Melville
A burglary was discovered yesterday at the Primo Cafe in the Honeywell building on Corporate Centre Drive. A glass panel was broken to enter the cafeteria and $580 was stolen.
