'Horsing Around' on Lloyd Neck

Ashley O’Keefe, left, and Margie Howe put finishing touches on a gold-beaded horse decoration.

The Caumsett Foundation, formed to enhance Causmett State Historic Park in Lloyd Neck, is planning its 10th annual benefit, “Horsing Around,” on September 29.

The event at the park -- the former estate of Marshall Field III -- will feature a display of works by local artists and live and silent auctions of artwork, including paintings by Stokley Webster and Richard Vaux. The Webster and Vaux paintings will be on display at the Cold Spring Harbor Library, 95 Harbor Rd., starting Monday. They also can be viewed at the foundation’s Web site.

The Caumsett Foundation has raised more than $3 million for preservation, conservation and educational projects in the park. The dairy barns and walled garden have been restored, and work remains to be done at the polo stable, where the benefit will take place. The event will honor Niki and Joe Gregory, Lloyd Harbor residents who have been generous supporters of the foundation.

Other live-auction items include California surfing with Conan Hayes, a getaway to Nantucket, a U. S. Capitol/Members Only Dining Room package, an Islanders' Skybox with Pat LaFontaine, and a “Wall of Sophisticated Wine.”
