Police beat: Boat motor stolen in Northport

Centerport

The owner of a 1990 Jeep Cherokee reported it stolen Friday on Washington Drive.

Commack
Several thefts were reported Friday at a store on Veterans Memorial Highway. In one case the security staff gave police the license plate number of the thief's car.

A Somerset Drive homeowner said his driveway lights were broken Saturday.

Dix Hills
A window was broken Friday on a car on Baldwin Path.

East Northport
A bicycle was stolen Friday from a yard on Atlantic Street.

Greenlawn
A Donald Lane resident found deep scratches on her car Friday.


Huntington

A Longacre Drive resident told police that he saw some youths running off after they tried to steal his car Friday. He said they stuck something in the accelerator in an attempt to start the car.

A burglary was discovered Friday at a house on Flower Hill Road. The police report said a window was broken in the basement door to gain entry.

A burglary was discovered Friday at St. Patrick's Thrift Shop on New York Avenue. The police report said items were stolen and the cash register was broken open.

A resident in a apartment complex on New York Avenue called police Saturday after he found that his car had been moved in the parking lot and damaged extensively.

Police reported Saturday that graffiti was found in Heckscher Park on Prime Avenue.

A resident on Woolsey Street said her pocketbook was stolen from her car Sunday.

Huntington Station
On Friday, six pairs of jeans valued at $784 were stolen from Bloomingdale's on Walt Whitman Road.

Melville
The exhaust pipe and catalytic converter were stolen Friday from a 1997 Toyota Tacoma on the South Service Road of the LIE.

Northport
On Saturday, a motor was reported stolen from a sail boat at the Northport harbor.

South Huntington
A West Hills Road resident called police to report that a man broke the fence on his porch Saturday.

West Hills
A resident on Hartman Hill Road reported a burglary Friday. The police report said the front door was kicked in to gain entry.

Vandals damaged a mailbox at a house on Robin Lane Friday.
