Police beat: Commack to Melville

Commack A theft was reported Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Target store on Henry Street. A man took some DVD box sets and drove off in a red Jeep Liberty. There was no license plate number given for the car.

Huntington A robbery was reported Sunday, Aug. 5, at JJ's Rest Stop on New York Avenue. The complainant told police he was robbed by four men who drove off in a white Acura, license plate number DYZ9410. The police report did not indicate if a weapon was used or what was taken.

Huntington Station A Getty gas station at 360 East Jericho Turnpike was burglarized late Saturday, Aug. 4, or early Sunday, Aug. 5.

Melville A burglary was discovered Sunday, Aug. 5, at Blackstone's Steak House at 10 Pinelawn Rd. It was reported that a side door was pried open to gain entry to the office. The police report said the restaurant's alarm sounded and the subjects fled.

Melville A burglary was reported Sunday, Aug. 5, at a Kentucky Fried Chicken store at 600 Broadhollow Rd. The police report said a drive-thru window was broken and the safe was destroyed.

Melville On Sunday, Aug. 5, a guest at the Huntington Hilton told police her pocketbook was stolen. The complainant said it was in a unlocked locker at the hotel at 598 Broadhollow Rd. After leaving it in the locker for 2 1/2 hours, she returned to find the pocketbook with $150 in cash, a credit card and two passports was missing.
