Police beat: Cars and homes targeted

Commack: The owner of a 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier said it was stolen Aug. 10 on Commack Road.

Commack: The rear tires were reported stolen Aug. 11 from a car on Pequa Lane.

Commack: A car was broken into Aug. 12 on Harvest Lane and a pocketbook was stolen.

Commack: A 2006 Dodge Durango was broken into today and an iPod and a set of golf clubs were stolen.

Dix Hills: Jewelry was taken during a burglary at a house on Melrose Road on Aug. 11.

Dix Hills: The Paumonack Elementary School was reported broken into Aug. 13. A window was broken to gain entry but aparently nothing was taken.

East Northport: The driver-side window and the moon roof were broken on a car on Brightside Avenue on Aug. 11. The instrument panel was damaged and the stereo was stolen.

Greenlawn: A back window was broken Aug. 11 on a car on Roosevelt Avenue.

Greenlawn: The driver-side window was found broken on a car on Francis Drive Aug. 12.

Greenlawn: A resident on Legacy Court told police today that he heard his car alarm go off and discovered that his stereo was stolen.

Greenlawn: On Aug. 13 the license plates were stolen from a car on Harborview Avenue.

Huntington: A Burlington Avenue resident told police his wallet was stolen Aug. 12. He said he was having a prescription filled at a store and had his wallet on the counter. The man said he was looking at some nearby items when a young woman grabbed the wallet and ran off.

Huntington Station: A burglary was discovered Aug. 10 at a house on Dawson Street. The homeowner said money and a television set were taken.

Huntington Station: A report was made Aug. 12 that a house being built on Whitson Road was damaged and copper pipes were stolen.
